We purchased "Charlie" as a yearling from Shane Heard in Victoria. He was started under saddle by John Wicks as a 2 y.o. in December 2005. Over the next 12 months he was educated by non-pro Barbara Schleppi. In January 2007 "Charlie" was brought back to John for a tune-up in preparation for the NRHA Non-Pro Futurities. However, he showed that much ability that the decision was made to leave him with John and enter him in the Open Futurities. In 2007 at his first show he won and placed in his events. Next was the Queensland State Show where John and Charlie got the highest aggregate into the final and ending up 3rd in the Open Futurity. They then attended the NSW State Show, bringing home 2 State Titles (Open Futurity Champion, Open Snafflebit Champion). In August 2007, Charlie won the NRHA National Open Futurity with the show's highest score of 147, outscoring Derby and Open horses.Due to the EI Charlie was unshown in 2008.He was brought back in 2009 to attend local shows with Barbara in the saddle. They competed not only in Reining but also in Western Pleasure, Trail, Western Riding and Horsemanship classes. He was taken to the Queensland State Reining Show in Gatton and won Barbara her first buckle for winning the Limited Non Pro class our of 31 entries. They also won a Reserve Champion title and placed 3rd in some events as well.In August 2009 Charlie and Barbara travelled to Tamworth to compete at the National Show. They managed to place 4th in the Interm. Open Derby.
Charlie continued to be shown by Barbara in 2010 and won Reserve Champion Intermediate Non-Pro (after run off) at the Reining Australia National Show plus several other placings.
Due to the Barbara's health she was unable to show Charlie in 2011, so the decision was made for Stefan to show Charlie that year. Despite only riding him once a week, Stefan took Charlie to a show in Gatton in March 2011, and managed to place in the Rookies (Stefan's first ever NRHA money earnings). Stefan realised that such a preparation was totally inadequate for competitive reining, and was not doing any justice to Poco Blue Moon.
So, after an amazing 5 years journey, we have most regretably decided to offer Poco Blue Moon for sale, in the hope that his new owners can give him the time he deserves, win a platinum certificate with him (only $350 to go), and promoting his foals that are already prvong to be of the highest quality.
